Two Hume Tennis and Community Centre juniors have been named as part of Tennis Australia’s, Victoria’s Super 10’s competition – Gavy Dhindsa and Jocelyn Jia.
Jocelyn is pictured with Leann Serna who also competed in Super 10’s, way back in 2014. Leann is now off to the USA to play colleague tennis.
Leann has become an incredible mentor for Jocelyn. Jocelyn currently represents Hume Tennis in North Suburban Tennis Association competition and also plays many Tennis Australia junior tournaments including Melbourne Junior Tennis Pathway Series.
Jocelyn has been working hard to develop all her grips on the serve. Her groundstrokes are her best shot where she has developed devastating power for someone who is only 9 years old.
Gavy Dhindsa is only 8 years old and is one of the youngest players picked for this years Super 10’s competition. Gave has an incredible love for the game and is often found on the back courts at Hume practicing with his Dad.
Gavy is coached by Hume Tennis Professional Kale Nairn. Kale is impressed by Gavy’s development especially the progress he has made with his depth and power on the groundstrokes.
Gavy’s weekly program includes: having private lessons with Kale, training in squads, practicing with his friends and dad and then playing junior competition for Hume and competing in Junior tournaments.
Super 10s is a team based program for boys and girls. The competition is aimed to provide opportunities and experiences for young emerging players. Played with green ball it allows the best 10/u athletes in the state to come together and receive quality match play with their peers. Players have the opportunity to compete in a team and receive advice and support from their team manager.
