Hume Tennis and Community Centre is preparing to host two exciting Tennis Australia tournaments this September, offering competition for emerging juniors and open-level players.
The first event, running from 19–22 September, will feature a $5K Men’s and Women’s Open, together with junior and Green Ball events. The Men’s and Women’s Open champions will also earn an exciting opportunity—a wildcard into one of the $20K UTR Pro Tennis Tour tournaments being held at Hume Tennis during November and December.
The second tournament will run from 27–30 September and include a $3K Open, JT 125 junior events for 12-and-under, 14-and-under and 16-and-under players, plus a 10-and-under Green Ball competition.
These tournaments form an important part of Hume Tennis’ commitment to providing a genuine pathway from junior and community competition through to professional-level tennis.
Hume Tennis Manager Tim Connelly said the wildcard opportunity would give emerging players the chance to test themselves against some of Australia’s best developing talent.
“We are incredibly proud at Hume Tennis to offer a pathway for players who are developing their games and looking to take the next step,” Connelly said.
“Winning a wildcard into a $20K UTR Pro Tennis Tour event is a fantastic opportunity. Last year, the 16-and-under Australian Nationals winner Lachlan King competed in one of our events and had the chance to play Australian professional Li Tu.
“That is the type of experience these tournaments can provide. The round-robin format is also incredibly valuable, with players receiving a minimum of five quality matches during the week. For developing players in Australia, it is one of the best competitive opportunities available.”
The UTR Pro Tennis Tour events bring together established professionals, leading juniors, college players and emerging Australian talent. The September tournaments give local and developing players a direct opportunity to earn their place in that environment.
