25 October 2018 | Paige Pucar

We are pleased to announce that Hume will be participating this seasons Tennis Victoria Women Premier League Super Round event. This is Victoria’s highest level inter-club competition that involves some of the best local, interstate and international tennis players, each competing for $20,000.

Hume will be competing against five of Tennis Victoria’s finest tennis clubs: Kooyong, Royal South Yarra, Beaumaris, Glen Iris and Liston. To be the only team north of Melbourne gives us great pleasure.

Jelena Dokic (former world number 4), Destanee Aiava, Jamie Fourlis, Jess Moore and Ellen Perez are only a few of the big names that will be competing in this year’s prestigious event.

The competition kicks off on November 4th and features 5 rounds, with the final played at Glen Iris on December 1st. Not only will Hume participate, but also host the third Super Round on November 11th. All are invited and encouraged to come and support our women’s team.

It is with great pleasure that we reveal our Hume Women’s Team; Katy Dunne (world ranking 228), Julia Kimmelman (former world ranking 350), Lisa Whybourn (former world number 250 and Hume Tennis Coach), Amy Stevens (ITF junior ranking 637), Olivia Symons (ITF junior ranking 1,465), Beatrice Hertel (Top 100 Australian Ranking), Leann Serna (national junior ranking Top 10).

Lisa Whybourn, Team Captain, said “while the Hume team is new to the league – we have recruited really strong seasoned professionals and combine that with some of Australia’s best young juniors, means our team could be the dark horse”. ” We can’t wait for the season to start and hope many of the tennis supporters from the northern suburbs get out and cheer for the only team north of Melbourne.”

The competition will be played through the month of November – players will compete in single and double rubbers with the top 3 teams going into the finals and playing for $20,000. With there also being a men’s competition some Super Rounds include Men and Women (see below for full fixture).

On our Super Round Day (Round 3), November 11th, the centre will be freely open to all. Be sure to arrive early to not miss out on all the family-packed action.
