Hume’s Junior Superstars Taking on the World

At Hume Tennis, we are incredibly proud of the pathways we’ve built for young players—and nothing makes us prouder than seeing our juniors achieve remarkable success on the national and international stage. Today, we celebrate three of our developing superstars, each of whom has taken their first steps right here at Hume and are now carrying the name of our club and region with pride across the world.

Jin Woodman – From Hume to the US Open

Jin Woodman’s journey is one of resilience, dedication, and talent. Currently ranked World No. 15 in Quad Wheelchair Tennis, Jin will soon take on the world’s best at the US Open in the Quad Division. Earlier this year, he reached the quarter finals at the Australian Open, showing he belongs among the elite. Jin’s success is an inspiration to all of us at Hume and a powerful example of what can be achieved with passion and perseverance.

Gavy Dhinsda – Victoria’s No. 1 at the Bruce Cup

A true Hume Tennis junior, Gavy Dhinsda first picked up a racquet here at just four years old. Fast forward and Gavy is now preparing to represent Victoria in the Bruce Cup, proudly taking the No. 1 position on the team. This national schools championship, starting in October, will see him test his skills against the best players from every state and territory—a huge honour for both Gavy and our club.

Jocelyn Jia – Training with the Best in Europe

At just 12 years old, Jocelyn Jia is already being recognised as one of the most promising young players in Australia. Jocelyn is about to embark on an exciting training block at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Spain, alongside an Australian Team. This marks her second European tour in 2024—earlier this year, she spent eight weeks competing across Europe and was the best-performed player of the entire touring squad. Jocelyn’s dedication, maturity, and results are setting her apart as one of the brightest young talents in the country.

It All Begins at Hume

While their journeys are inspiring, what makes us most proud is that all three players began their tennis at Hume Tennis. From Gavy’s very first lessons at age four, to Jin’s and Jocelyn’s development through our junior programs, their stories show what’s possible when talent meets opportunity and dedication.

At Hume, we’re committed to giving every child a chance to start their tennis journey. Our “Four for Forty” introductory program is the perfect first step—four lessons for just $40. It’s a fun and affordable way for juniors to discover the sport, develop skills, and take the first steps toward their own tennis dreams.
