Exciting times for tennis in Australia, as Hume Tennis and the UTR Pro Tennis Tour join forces to inject fresh energy into the Australian Pro Tennis Circuit. With NEW initiatives and a focus on nurturing talent, the upcoming events promise to grow the opportunities of professional tennis in Australia.
One of the most anticipated innovations at the upcoming Men’s and Women’s PTT 25k is the introduction of a Wildcard Qualifying Event. This unique addition not only offers players a shot at snagging one of TWO wildcards but also a chance to pocket $250 in prize money.
Hume Tennis Manager, Tim Connelly, expressed his enthusiasm for these developments, highlighting their potential to create more opportunities for aspiring pro players.
“We are really excited by the new developments in the UTR Pro Tennis Tour,” remarked Connelly. ” The first is offering $250 prize money to each qualifier. With 16 direct acceptances in the main draw, the opening of two spots in the draw for qualifiers is exciting. The second being the lowering of the UTR entry rating for Qualifying Events, allowing players to participate and grow their UTR to secure direct acceptance.”
The Wildcard Qualifying Event will be played over two days, taking place on the Fridays and Saturdays preceding each PTT event. Limited to a maximum of 32 players, the qualifying events will provide a platform for emerging talents to earn a coveted spot in the main draw.
The next qualifying event scheduled, is for the Melbourne Women’s PTT commencing on April 15th, the Wildcard Tournament will be played on April 12th and 13th, with entry deadline April 9th.
